• Served Canada as a Member of Parliament for fourteen years (1979-1993).
• Former President of Saskatchewan’s Progressive Conservative Party (PCP) (1974-1977), Vice-President of the Federal Progressive Conservative Party (1977 –1979).
• Negotiated an agreement between the Canadian Government, Chevron Oil, Mobil Oil, Petro-Canada, and Murphy Oil for the $6,000,000,000 Hibernia Offshore Oil Project.
• Established the Department of Economic Diversification; accountable for a fund of $1.2 Billion.
• Responsible for creating a new financial instrument known as the Mortgage Backed Securities Program, which substantially increased available funds for residential mortgages in Canada.
• Initiated and led many Canadian industry Trade Missions to Asia, Mexico, Central America, the Middle East, Europe and the United States, which were successful in opening global markets and established new business for a wide range of Canadian companies.
• Created the Canadian Government’s Agri-Food Trade Opportunities Strategy.
• Established a multi-million dollar trade promotion fund to promote international activities between industry and governments.
• Responsible for the deployment of military personnel, aircraft, etc., as part of Canada’s United Nations commitment during the Persian Gulf Crisis.
• Directed a $3.4 Billion reduction in defense spending through a major restructuring of DND capital budgets, personnel and operations.
• Chairman, McKnight & Associates; A Canadian-based international professional services firm providing strategic business development advice and unique access to private and public decisions makers worldwide in the areas of trade and investment, international marketing, and government relations.
• Senior Partner, Cascadia Ventures Group; a venture capital financing organization, which also specializes in mergers and acquisitions on a national and international scale.

• Mr. McKnight was born and resides in Saskatchewan, Canada. Bill and his wife, Beverly, have two children; Robert Ogden, and Torrie Shawn.

Hon. Bill McKnight P.C. has been involved with GRG and the AEROS Project for over 12 years. Mr. McKnight has accepted to be a candidate to the new GRG Board of Directors.
