  AEROS© TECHNOLOGY

The AEROS System© includes specialized vehicles such as the HydraHead AUV© and the Boom Tug AUV©, which are both satellite guided vehicles using GPS, remote sensing, and telemetry technologies.

All AEROS Systems© are remote-controlled by trained operators stationed in the command aircraft or in a land-based control center that can be located (or relocated) anywhere in the world. Remote sensing technologies interfaced with remote control and tele-robotic systems will enable operators to monitor all AEROS vehicles and to maximize oil spill recovery operations, day or night. After recovery operations are concluded, the recovered oil and all AEROS systems are retrieved by barges (or by auxiliary tankers) with AEROS recovery systems. (Watch the video clip on the AEROS System©)

The AEROS HydraHead AUV© and the AEROS Boom Tug AUV© are both deployed from C-130 Hercules (or similar) aircraft by parachute. A conversion kit is under study by Lockheed Martin to convert existing C-130 aircraft for amphibious capability. AEROS is designing a version of the oil spill containment system for deployment using the proposed C-130 Hercules Float plane. The proposed, converted C-130 float plane will be invaluable for the launching and recovery of AEROS containment systems and service vehicles and for refueling AEROS vehicles, particularly in the event of very large or "mega" spills.
